Why Share Your Holiday Home?
There are a number of reasons why people might want to share the ownership of a holiday home with someone else, but the following are likely to be the most common:
- Social reasons – The holiday home owners can choose to go on holiday together to the property if they wish, and this can be an excellent arrangement especially if the owners have children who can play together. If the owners do not get the opportunity to see each other often when they are at work going on holiday together is a good chance to catch up and relax.
- Convenience – When you own a holiday home you know that when you arrive at your property you are staying in a home and a location that you like, and you know the facilities and amenities available. The additional benefit of sharing ownership of such a property is that you can share the burden of any administrative tasks with the other owners.
- Financial reasons – When purchasing a holiday home with other people, everyone will need to compromise slightly on their requirements and preferences such as the location and size of the property. However, the ultimate benefit is that sharing the ownership of a property will help to save all of the owners money and can thus make purchasing and owning a second home much more affordable. Each owner’s share of the purchase price, mortgage repayments and bills will be considerably lower than if they owned their own second home.
